Hearing your baby might be born with a complex medical condition can be scary and overwhelming. From the moment families are referred to Children’s Nebraska’s Fetal Care Center, we provide the highest quality individualized care. Our experts are committed to the health and well-being of all families expecting a newborn who may require advanced care after birth.

About Us

Children’s Fetal Care Center provides support and resources for expectant parents whose babies are at high risk for serious birth defects or health conditions that may require advanced care immediately after birth. We provide diagnostic testing and collaborative, multidisciplinary care with specialty physicians.

Our Fetal Care Center Nurse Coordinators schedule personalized appointments based on your needs. Our team will work closely with you before, during and after delivery to provide a coordinated plan of care and help ensure the best outcome for your baby.

Treatments and Services

Prenatal appointments through the Fetal Care Center include:

  • Visits with prenatal pediatric experts: Cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, developmental pediatrics, ENT, genetics, hematology, immunology, orthopedic surgery, palliative care, pediatric surgery, plastic surgery, neonatology, nephrology, neurology, neurosurgery and urology

  • Diagnostics: Fetal echocardiogram (diagnostic and screening), fetal MRI and placental MRI

  • Additional services and support: Social work, lactation, child life specialists, chaplain, Rainbow House, Rainbow Suites and personalized tours

At the Fetal Care Center, we educate and include you in your baby’s care plan, your prenatal diagnosis and prenatal concerns. Whether your baby will be admitted directly to Children’s NICU or will not require specialized care until later in infancy, our Fetal Care Nurse Coordinators will collaborate with your maternal fetal medicine or OB/GYN care team. Our team streamlines communication across multiple providers throughout pregnancy and delivery planning.

Children’s Fetal Care Center is located in the Hubbard Center for Children, a state-of-the-art facility situated between the hospital and the Specialty Pediatric Center.

All of the pediatric experts on your care team are located at Children’s. They collaborate in the Fetal Care Center to create the best care plan for your baby. Children’s also houses the only Level IV regional NICU in the state of Nebraska, the most advanced level of neonatal care possible.
