Community Benefit & Engagement

A child’s health is largely influenced by factors in their environment – safe homes and neighborhoods, access to healthy food, quality education and resources to manage life’s challenges. All of these environmental influencers determine a child’s future health outcomes.

Elevating Child Health

Children’s Nebraska is committed to improving the health of children in our community, especially those from underrepresented populations, by investing in programs and resources that create a positive and healthy future for kids and families. Community Benefit programs and services are key to this commitment. An annual report of Community Benefits with expenses, impact data and program stories, is published each year.

Community Impact Grants

Children’s Community Health & Advocacy team leads a Community Impact Grant initiative to promote positive health outcomes for children by addressing family-based Social Drivers of Health (SDOH) in the places they live, learn and play. Grants are awarded on an 18-month cycle, with the next Request for Proposals (RFP) available in late in the year. Recipients are carefully chosen based on their proposed use of funds and the impact on children and families in the community.
