About Us
The specialists in Motility at Children’s Nebraska diagnose and treat many types of gastrointestinal motility disorders. These include anorectal motility disorder, small intestine motility disorder and antroduodenal motility disorder. Our Motility Disorders Program is the only pediatric program in the region to offer the full spectrum of testing and care for motility disorders.
Motility disorders disrupt the normal movement of food through the digestive system. The digestive tract runs from the esophagus (the tube connecting the mouth to the stomach) all the way down to the rectum (the lower part of the large intestine). When there are problems with the nerves, muscles, connective tissue or structures within any part of the digestive tract, motility disorders can occur.
Our providers offer comprehensive care to manage symptoms and improve your child’s quality of life. We can reduce discomfort, help you and your child understand their condition and equip your family with the tools to manage it. Our motility specialists work hand-in-hand with colleagues in the Colorectal Surgery, ENT and Urology departments to care for patients with complex disorders.
