Children's Nebraska's Cardiac Care Unit (CCU) offers a dedicated space for the complete range of pediatric heart care. With specialized providers, flexible care rooms and a full spectrum of comprehensive services, we ensure seamless, high-quality care for every patient — all in one location.

About Us

At Children’s Nebraska, we offer expert cardiac care in our state-of-the-art Cardiac Care Unit (CCU), dedicated to treating a wide range of heart conditions. Our specialized team is equipped to manage even the most complex cases.

In the CCU, we prioritize a seamless experience for both patients and families. From admission to discharge, your patient will remain with the same care team. Each of our 32 CCU rooms is flexible, functioning as either an intensive care or step-down room depending on the patient’s needs. This approach minimizes transfers and allows us to focus on what matters most — helping your patient recover efficiently.

Jagger’s Story: Heading Home After 548 Days in the Cardiac Care Unit

When Jagger was born prematurely with a congenital heart defect, his expected 6–8-week hospital stay stretched to 548 days in the Children’s Nebraska Neonatal Intensive Care and Cardiac Care Units. After numerous ups and downs with his condition, a long-awaited solution came in July 2023 when a life-changing biventricular repair meant he could finally head home.
