Nearly 1 in 5 children have, or will have, a mental, emotional or behavioral health disorder, but only 20% of those children receive care. To address the shortage, Children’s Behavioral Health Network offers programs and resources to expand knowledge and education in mental health care and connect providers with children and adolescents in need.
Expanding Care
The Behavioral Health & Wellness Center at Children’s Nebraska, built in partnership with the Mental Health Innovation Foundation, will open in early 2026. The facility will provide comprehensive, world-class behavioral healthcare and offer a full spectrum of mental health services to meet the growing needs of children and adolescents in Nebraska and the Midwest.
COPE
Children’s Outreach and Provider Education (COPE) is a state-wide, grant-funded program addressing critical gaps in access to pediatric mental health care by bridging the continuum of care between primary care providers and mental health professionals. COPE educates and provides resources to primary care providers so they can more comfortably identify, treat and manage pediatric mental health conditions seen every day in their practices.
The CALM Project
The Collaboration for Adolescents Learning about Mental Health (CALM) Project fosters partnerships between primary care clinics and Nebraska high schools by organizing medical professionals to speak about mental health in schools to empower adolescents in need to seek care.
