Conditions We Treat
Cystic fibrosis
Cystic fibrosis affects nearly 40,000 children and adults in the United States, and nearly 400 in Nebraska. Cystic fibrosis causes thick, sticky mucus to clog the lungs and digestive system. This can lead to malnutrition and repeated lung infections. As a complex, multi-system condition, cystic fibrosis requires specialized treatment and medications. There is no cure for Cystic fibrosis at this time and it shortens a person’s lifespan. However, researchers continue to make significant progress in effective treatments and management strategies.

What Sets Us Apart
Children’s Cystic Fibrosis is the only Cystic Fibrosis Foundation-accredited pediatric center in Nebraska. We utilize a multidisciplinary team approach to collaborate with providers across specialties. Depending on care needs, a child will see pulmonologists specially trained in cystic fibrosis, dietitians, nurses, respiratory therapists, social workers, physical therapists and more.
Our team seamlessly transitions pediatric patients into adult care, ensuring adolescents are fully informed about their condition and care plans. Because we value family’s time, we conduct outreach clinics in Kearney and Sioux City. This brings exceptional pediatric care closer to home.
