Survivorship Clinic

The Children’s Nebraska Survivorship Clinic provides ongoing care for pediatric cancer survivors, offering specialized support to manage long-term health needs and promote a healthy future for your patient. Our dedicated team helps address the physical, emotional and developmental challenges that may arise following cancer treatment.

About Us

At Children’s Nebraska, we understand that surviving childhood cancer is just one part of the journey. Thanks to advancements in cancer treatment, many children diagnosed with cancer now survive into adulthood, but the road to recovery can be challenging. After treatment, some survivors may experience long-term health issues, known as late effects, which can develop years later. These effects can vary depending on the type of cancer treatment your patient received, but with dedicated screening and follow-up care, we help identify potential problems early to ensure their well-being.

The Children’s Survivorship Clinic provides specialized follow-up care for childhood cancer and bone marrow transplant survivors. Our multidisciplinary team offers comprehensive services, including medical care, survivor-specific resources and ongoing education about potential health risks. Through close monitoring and personalized care, we aim to optimize your patient’s long-term health, supporting their transition into adulthood while maintaining a high quality of life.

Your patient will have a dedicated care team specializing in their health and well-being during childhood, adolescence and young adulthood after cancer treatment. The Children’s Survivorship team is led by pediatric oncologists and includes:

  • Pediatric oncology and bone marrow transplant physicians and nurse practitioners

  • Nurse case managers

  • Social workers

  • Physical therapists

  • Psychologists

  • Cardiologists

  • Other subspecialists as needed
