Eating Disorders Program

At Children’s Nebraska, our Eating Disorders Program offers comprehensive, compassionate care for children and adolescents with eating disorders. Our multidisciplinary team provides personalized treatment plans to support recovery and promote long-term health and wellbeing for your patients.

About Us

Children’s Nebraska’s Eating Disorders Program provides specialized care for children and adolescents up to age 21. As the only pediatric program in the region, we are uniquely equipped to address the complex needs of both patients and their families. Our approach focuses not only on overcoming the eating disorder but also on equipping children with the tools for a healthy relationship with food.

We offer outpatient services, including a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and a less-intensive option, tailored to each child’s specific needs. Our multidisciplinary team includes:

  • Physicians and nurses to manage medical needs

  • Dietitians to supervise nutrition and provide education on healthy eating habits

  • Mental health specialists including psychologists and social workers to address the emotional and psychological aspects of eating disorders

  • Recreational therapists to guide exercise education

  • School staff to ensure educational progress

We also prioritize family involvement, offering support and education on nutrition, communication and meal planning to help families navigate this journey. Through early intervention, our goal is to prevent the need for inpatient care, which often requires costly, out-of-state treatment. Our program empowers children to heal both physically and emotionally, setting them up for a healthy future.
