The Asthma Center of Excellence at Children’s Nebraska specializes in providing comprehensive pediatric asthma care across various healthcare settings. Through innovation, advocacy, education and research, we address the unique needs of young patients with asthma. Our multidisciplinary team of specialists is equipped with the expertise to diagnose and manage all forms of asthma as well as co-existing conditions that may mimic or exacerbate asthma, ensuring optimal outcomes for every child.

Our experts treat mild, moderate and severe asthma, which causes the airways in your child’s lungs to become inflamed and narrow. Asthma makes it difficult for air to flow in and out, and it can be a long-term condition.

Treatments and Services

At Children’s Asthma Center of Excellence, we use biologic therapies, remote patient monitoring and lung function testing to deliver the most up-to-date care for pediatric asthma. Our advanced diagnostics and full-service laboratory facilities allow for the most accurate diagnosis.

Some of the diagnostic tests we use to identify asthma are also used to monitor its severity. For example, we may give your child a handheld device called a peak flow meter to measure how well their lungs are working. Low readings can be a sign asthma is worsening before it even causes symptoms.

The goal of treating your child’s asthma is to manage symptoms and flare-ups, which can include using and finding the right dose of medications. Some of the treatments we may prescribe include:
