Overall our care was great. Our nurses were absolutely wonderful - we were in the PICU for our stay. Doctors- different specialties - disagreeing on treatment was very frustrating. Areas for improvement - * No one came to get us in the OR waiting area to take us to the PICU - Drew was his room & settled for a full hour. We took ourselves to his room. * Many people did not introduce themselves when they came in the room. Biomed man walked in looking around for our home BIPAP machine. He said nothing. I said - are you biomed? He said yes. * The only high-backed wheelchair was “broken”. This is what Drew needed to go to XRay. We took him down in the recliner. UNBELIEVABLY frustrating & disappointing.

The care my daughter got needs some improvement. Her last 2 days she was not put in her wheelchair as ordered by her doctor. She never received any oral care which caused a buildup of film in her mouth. She also was discharged without tolerating her full feeds. Most of her care was good but far from excellent.

I am so glad that we were able to come to Children's Omaha. Our 3 year old son got his fingers pinched in a trailer, which caused the 2 middle fingers to be blown out. After the ER where we live had contacted 6 or 7 different hospitals and they all turned us down because they didn't have a hand specialist on call (Omaha Children's included), they called the last place and they were going to take us as a last resort, but they were going to amputate his middle finger for sure and werent sure about the ring finger. As we were getting ready to head to that hospital, Omaha Children's had called the ER back and had said that Dr. Gaddie would take him. So, we decided to come to Omaha Children's, and we are so glad we did. They did not have to amputate his whole middle finger or the ring finger. He only lost the tips of his 2 middle fingers (at the first knuckle). Dr Gaddie has been so awesome with all of our questions. My sons fingers look good and he is able to use them and do normal things. We just thank God that the Peds doctor on call at Omaha Childrens thought to call Dr. Gaddie and thankful Dr. Gaddie said he would take him.
