Debra J. Tomek, MD

Hi, I’m Debbie Tomek, and I’m a pediatrician at Children’s Physicians, University of Nebraska Medical Center. I hope that my patients think that I’m silly, that I care about them very deeply, that I’m smart, that I know what I’m doing, and that they can approach me with anything that is worrying them about their health. I chose to work at Children’s Nebraska because I know that the care given here is excellent. I really wanted to be a part of that. I wanted to be a part of the team that cares about the quality and the experience of care. My area of special focus is school health, as well as injury prevention. As a part of my role at Children’s Nebraska, I’m also active in community advocacy. I see patients at University of Nebraska Medical Center because that helps ground me to the individual needs that families and children have. At the same time, I’m always putting that in context of what children need in our community. The best advice that I can give for parents and caregivers is to love on their kids, to pay attention, observe what they’re doing, and enjoy them in each phase of living.
