The most important thing is that my child's condition was identified and surgery was given the next day which provided child relief. The ER experience was rather positive with adequate care. Once child was admitted to a typical hospital floor there were a variety of concerns/disappointments. 1) a nurse gave child water and crackers after the ER department had repeatedly told us child was NOT to eat or drink due to surgery being scheduled 4 hours later. Said nurse argued with me that child's orders indicated she could have a regular diet. After my insisting the nurse call the doctor and double check- nurse retuned 45 min later to tell us we were correct and child was not to eat or drink. The 45 min was mental torture for child as they hadn't drank for 12 hours and desperately wanted the water that was given to them. I feel this was medically neglectful and a nurse should know the protocol for drinking before surgery. What if our child had drank the water/ate the crackers and then vomited and aspirated under anesthesia. 2) child requested a shower while parents were not present and child was left alone to shower. Child was not given a clean gown to put on. The only clothes child had to put on was a dirty gown that had a 12 inch circle of drainage on it. Per parents request she was eventually given a clean gown. 3) Childs bed sheets were saturated in drainage/fluids and when parents requested bedding be changed, the nurse looked annoyed and gave the bedding to the father stating "here ya go" then left the room. Father changed the bedding himself. 4) Child had a urinary accident when getting out of bed. The urine soaked clothing remained on the bathroom counter for over 24 hours. :( My child was medically treated and I appreciate that because their health was most important. But those other things that happened certainly didn't represent the hospital staff in a positive manner.

Amazing from check in to seeing the provider and nursing staff

April 2023

All of the nurses and medical assistants on 6th floor are amazing. They kept our son so comfortable and we were confident throughout his stay that he was getting the best care possible. There was a minor issue getting stat labs drawn (took a couple hours for lab to come up) but once the amazing charge nurse called down, they came up very quickly! Thank you to everyone for caring so much about your patients!
