About
I’m Monina Cabrera. I’m a pediatric endocrinologist at Children’s Nebraska in Omaha.
I hope my patients see me as somebody who truly cares for them. My job is not just seeing patients, checking on numbers, and checking blood levels. I am here as somebody who will see them through their formative years. That’s why I like pediatrics — because you can hopefully help change or make somebody’s life better.
Most of the patients we see are referred by their primary care providers. I would say the majority of the referrals are because of growth and puberty-related issues.
I feel like I had excellent training in this field. We try to keep abreast of current developments so that we can offer these patients the best care available. For my patients — whether it be for diabetes or endocrine diseases — these conditions are manageable. We see a lot of our patients transition to adult medicine, so I think we took pretty good care of them so they can grow up and maintain productive lives.
Dr. Cabrera’s interests are in diabetes and general pediatric endocrinology. She is an assistant professor of Endocrinology at UNMC College of Medicine.
