As a pediatric intensivist I am honored to take care of children and partner with the families while they are critically ill with life-threatening illnesses. My passion is improving the care that we provide to the children while in the ICU. Some of the sickest patients we take care of in the ICU have a virus that only causes a minor cold in other children and we are investigating while some children become so ill and the best ways to care for them and support their families through these times.
Given children are generally healthy I find significant value in working with other pediatric intensivists across the country though large multi-center collaboration through groups such as PALISI (Pediatric Acute Lung Injury and Sepsis Initiative). Currently I am working with the PICFlu sub-group within PALISI to investigate influenza and the pediatric manifestations of SARS-CoV-2 illness including MISC.
