Dr. Ng received her doctor of optometry from Salus University, College of Optometry in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania.
Dr. Ng’s introduction to eyecare began when she received glasses for the first time in fourth grade after discovering she had myopia. Myopia is a common and correctable refractive (glasses) condition in children that impacts their ability to see at a distance.
“I formed an early relationship with my childhood optometrist, who helped me year after year as my eyes continued to worsen and my body grew into adolescence,” Dr. Ng said. “This life experience invigorated me to understand why some children need glasses, and how to treat and minimize progression as they mature. This inspired me to research and treat this condition. I have a specific interest in myopia control and other childhood refractive disorders, but I also enjoy treating ocular disease, more rare types of eye problems and co-managing cases with our Ophthalmologists.”
Dr. Ng feels fortunate to be part of Children’s Eye Clinic. “We are a collaborative team that focuses care on the patient between in-patient hospital and out-patient specialty departments, so that your child’s doctors can help you as an informed united team. If your child has a sudden eye problem that needs immediate attention you can see us via one of our same-day emergency spots.”
As a provider, Dr. Ng’s goal is to make sure each child has all the tools they need while transitioning from childhood into adolescence. “Because children are limited to their life experiences, they may not know how to express vision hardships. That’s why early vision screenings, and routine exams can help ensure that your child can see and function at their best for all the things life has in store for them,” Dr. Ng said. “I love working with children. Their energy, curiosity, and vibrancy for all things big and small is infectious. I spend most of my day laughing and joking with kids. It’s the best.”
