About
I’m Dr. Katie Vollmuth, and I’m a pediatrician at Children’s Physicians, Gretna.
I became interested in pediatrics a long time ago. I always knew I wanted to take care of kids.
My typical patients would be anything from birth to 18. We see a mix of well visits during the day and common illnesses, coughs, runny nose, ear infections, strep throat, and pneumonia.
I always try to talk to your kids first, even if they’re a young age. I ask them the questions. I want them to be involved in their care. I think I’m pretty good at getting kids to talk and feel comfortable with me. If I have to make a goofy face or a funny noise or something, I’ll do it. I don’t care as long as the kids feel comfortable.
I’m one of the few pediatricians within Children’s that does sutures, so if your kid needs stitches, you can bring them to me during the day and I’ll suture them up. There’s only a few of us that do that within the network, and I love to do it. I’m also very interested in breastfeeding. I’m a certified lactation counselor, so I love talking about breastfeeding. Those are the things that I like.
I think parents entrust me with their children because I care a lot for them. If it’s something unusual or different, I make sure I get to the bottom of it, go to the specialists if we need to, do any sort of work up, and make sure that I take good care of your kids.
