What motivated you to become a pediatrician?
I always wanted to be a doctor since I was a little girl. I became interested in the human body when friends and family had medical issues when I was young. I became curious about why and how diseases happen and what we can do to prevent diseases and heal people. While growing up, I stayed interested and decided to volunteer at Children’s Hospital. That experience solidified my desire to work with kids as a doctor.
What is your favorite part about being a pediatrician?
We get to see all kinds of kids and conditions, from healthy babies, adolescents, sports injuries, sick visits and chronic illnesses. There is such a wide range of conditions that need to be treated and we are here for anything and everything that walks through the door. That’s what I really love about pediatrics.
What is your approach to caring for your patients?
The process of building trust with families. It takes a long-term relationship and that’s what is great about being a general pediatrician. Hopefully, you get to see a family over years and years of their life and are able to have those visits to talk about fun things and sometimes sad things. I think that’s where that trust comes in. The family gets to learn about me and I get to learn about them. That trust builds the relationship.
