My name is Abdalla Zarroug. I am a Pediatric Surgeon at Children’s Hospital and Medical Center.
I am a graduate of Cornell (Weill) University Medical College in New York, N.Y. I completed my general surgery residency and research fellowship (NIH-funded) at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., and my pediatric surgery fellowship at Emory University in Atlanta.
For 14 years, I was a Pediatric Surgeon and Associate Professor of Surgery and Pediatrics in the Division of Pediatric Surgery at Mayo.
Along with my wife and five young children, I moved to Doha, Qatar, where I helped to launch Sidra Medicine and served as the hospital’s Division Chief of Pediatric and General Thoracic Surgery.
For my next professional chapter, I found what I was looking for at Children’s — an opportunity in the U.S. to make a positive difference.
I am a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and I am board-certified in general surgery and pediatric surgery by the American Board of Medical Specialties. Beyond that, I am involved in developing and embracing new technologies, procedures, and education opportunities. I have special expertise in minimally invasive thoracic surgery, robotic surgery, and adolescent bariatric surgery.
