As Nebraska’s only free-standing, independent children’s hospital—the only hospital in the state exclusively dedicated to children, we must protect those who place their trust in us. This includes our patients, families, colleagues and communities.
Focused on safety and protecting others, Children’s joins other leading state health systems in requiring COVID-19 vaccination for team members. The COVID-19 vaccine is safe and effective at protecting against serious infection and hospitalization. More than 125 professional health associations and health care systems are calling for required vaccination. Unvaccinated employees and physicians may apply for medical or religious exemption, in line with other health systems.
Most in our pediatric population are not eligible for vaccination. While children are always considered a vulnerable population, the infants and children we serve are especially vulnerable right now.
People power our mission; we must keep our team members safe and healthy so they can continue to do their life-changing work. This decision is true to our mission of improving the lives of children.
