Hubbard Center for Children

Grand Opening Celebration

Please note: the program begins at the 14:30 mark.

Building on our Commitment to Children & Families

This fall, Children’s Nebraska will open the doors to the new Hubbard Center for Children, a state-of-the-art facility that will enable Children’s to continue to meet the needs of children and families who count on us for care.

The Hubbard Center is well on its way to opening on-schedule this September. It will offer a wide array of new and improved features from an expansive dining area with new food choices to seven new operating rooms, a one-of-a-kind imaging center, an expanded 20-room emergency department, 32-room cardiac care unit and 32-room pediatric intensive care unit. It will also feature a beautiful solarium and outdoor viewing garden for patients to get away and relax.

Read more fun facts about the Hubbard Center.

Since its founding in 1948 in the midst of the polio epidemic, Children’s has been on the leading edge of pediatric care in Omaha and across the region. This has led to steady, significant growth in the number of patients served and the variety of programs and services we provide. Each year, Children’s touches the lives of more than 150,000 children.

Growth projections have made it abundantly clear that Children’s must grow — in scope and space — to continue to meet the needs of children and families. The demand for high-quality pediatric care is great and we must expand our role as the region’s pediatric health care leader.

This is why we built the Hubbard Center for Children, a cutting-edge expansion that will elevate Children’s campus at 84th & Dodge Streets and accelerate our efforts to become one of the nation’s leaders in pediatric health care.

About The Hubbard Center For Children

When it opens in September 2021, the Hubbard Center for Children will double Children’s capacity by adding 100 additional beds. It also will house an expanded Newborn Intensive Care Unit, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, Cardiac Care Center, and much more. It sits between the hospital and the Specialty Pediatric Center and integrates architecturally with the existing buildings.

The buildings are connected, allowing staff and patients to move conveniently through all three spaces. Children’s has also built an additional parking garage to meet the growing parking needs for patient families and staff.

The Hubbard Center for Children is just the latest milestone in the life of Children’s — a timeline that includes the 1948 founding, the move west in 1981 and the opening of the free-standing hospital in 2000. We Can’t wait to share this treasure with our community.

Join Our Team

Cardiac Care Unit (CCU)

A floor exclusively dedicated to caring for the full spectrum of pediatric heart patients means that a child will remain on one floor for their entire hospital stay.

Cardiac Care

Hematology/Oncology

Children and teens diagnosed with cancers and blood disorders will have their own floor. This improves infection control for immunocompromised patients and allows children to get out of their rooms as much as possible.

Cancer Care

Neonatal Intensive Care

Expanding to 52 rooms and doubling the current square footage, the new NICU will expand access to care. Rooms will be larger and more comfortable to improve the experience for patients and their families.
