Prescription medications and treatments
Children’s Nebraska Outpatient Pharmacy offers pediatric patients discharging from hospital, outpatient and post-clinical visit prescription services. Our pediatric trained pharmacists work with your child’s specialists to ensure accurate medication services including these:
- Prescription– counter services, mailout and delivery
- Non-sterile compounding
- Over-the-counter medications and supplies
- Immunizations: Flu, Covid-19 and pneumonia shots
- Pharmacy consults
Filling A Prescription
Your provider will send the prescription to Children’s Nebraska Outpatient Pharmacy. Our staff will begin the process of filling your prescription, so it is ready at discharge or post- clinical appointments. We will include instructions about how and when to take your medication and how to manage potential side effects.

Children’s will bill insurance to determine the patient’s co-pay. -
Pharmacist Assistance
Children’s pharmacists are trained on the medication your child is taking, and they are here to answer your questions. Our pharmacists have direct access to your doctors, nurses, and other providers, and will reach out to them if needed. Pharmacists will:- Consult with you on how to administer your child’s medicine correctly and consistently, as well as share why it’s important
- Help you understand and manage side effects and drug interactions
- Discuss any problems you may have, such as administration difficulties or cost concerns
- Work with your child’s health care team to ensure medication is safe, effective and appropriate.

Patient Rights & Responsibilities
While our dedicated pharmacy team can help you maximize the benefits of your medications, only your physician can diagnose your condition and prescribe medication. You should maintain your appointments with your physician and take your medication as prescribed to avoid complications and achieve the best results. It is also important that you share accurate and up-to-date information about other medications you are taking, updates to your allergies, and any changes to your health with our clinicians because this information impacts the care and coordination we provide. Outpatient Pharmacy patients/ families have the right to:- Have personal health information shared with the pharmacy team in accordance with state and federal law
- Identify the program’s staff members, including their job title, and to speak with a staff member’s supervisor if requested
- Speak to a health professional
- Receive information about medications prescribed
- Decline a prescription

Adverse Drug Reactions
Patients experiencing adverse drug reactions, acute medical symptoms or other problems should contact their primary care provider (PCP) or local emergency room or call 911.
